Communicating the Issues

Citizens, policymakers, and legislators who have an accurate understanding of the issues are the key to implementing climate solutions. The Penn Center for Science, Sustainability and the Media focuses on the problem of climate communication and misinformation, and numerous faculty in the humanities and social sciences are providing insight to promote a more productive climate dialog.

In today’s fraught media environment, communicating policy-relevant science is more challenging than ever, and nowhere is this more evident than in the public discourse over human-caused climate change. The Penn Center for Science, Sustainability, and the Media focuses on the challenges and opportunities in communicating climate environmental sustainability to the public and policymakers.

Simon Richter, a professor of Germanic Studies, works with colleagues and students to create animated videos that explain the risks of climate change in terms that connect with lay people and policymakers.
